Pio Cesare Winemakers Dinner

Join us on October 18th for a five-course dinner showcasing six wines from the Pio Cesare winery. Chef Benjamin Mills has tasted the wines and developed a delicious Italian menu that brings in the traditional flavours of Italy with local ingredients. Come down for 7pm to meet the winemaker Augusto Boffa and enjoy a glass of prosecco during a cocktail style reception with dinner starting at 7:30.

Pio Cesare has been producing artisanal, small production wines for 135 years. The winery was founded in 1881, by Cesare Pio. He was a very successful entrepreneur and was inspired to produce a small and select quantity of wines from the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco for himself, his family, friends, and customers. Cesare was dedicated to the terroir of the Piedmont region and to producing wines of the highest quality. The family owns about 70 hectares of vineyards with great exposures in the most highly respected areas. The location of the vineyards, which is in a variety of areas, was not chosen randomly, but was determined by a strong belief in blending the different characteristics of vineyard and region. This allows the production of wines that represent the styles of each appellation terroir as a whole, instead of individual sites. The classic method of producing Barolo.

Barbaresco and the other classic wines they produce still respect the traditions of the end of the 19th century. These traditions still remain firmly in the family’s philosophy. Pio Cesare wines speak for themselves.
